The Bloomsbury Look – Tapestry Weaving and Embroidery with the same look

My work is inspired by my interests in colour, pattern and texture.

The rich qualities of materials and surfaces interest me in the development of the pieces as does the combination of contrasting colours and textures. My work explores the ideas of faded glamour and celebrates the beauty of ageing through gradual changes and the transition of colours. The latest work develops these ideas into sculptural works inspired by a variety of locations especially my local beach searching for sea treasures, the flotsum and jetsam of the sea.

I spend a lot of time at Charleston House, Firle the East Sussex home of the Bloomsbury Group. the aesthetics of the house and garden are a significant inspiration for my work.

I work with stitch and weave; often combining techniques and materials working with Hand and Machine Embroidery, Tapestry Weaving and 3D vessels using whimsical ideas to show my creative passions.
