Navigate- Bexhill Art Trail 2013

NAVIGATE Bexhill Art Trail 2013

The Bexhill Art Trail is part of the Coastal Currents 13 Arts Festival across Hastings and Bexhill orgsanised with the De La Warr Pavilion Artists Critique Group. ‘Navigate’ continues my love of pre-used and pre-loved textiles in combination with the ‘star’ motif that I often put into my work. I have worked with the trading team from St Michael’s Hospice to create 2 installations from donations as well as re-using items from my own collection. I have used furnishing fabrics, denim and jewellery etc. to cover and embellish chairs and create environments from an eclectic range of artefacts all on the theme of ‘Stars’.
In the Devonshire Road shop installation ‘Big Star’ I have used parts of 10 pairs of jeans to create a 2 meter star with added badges and details as well as 2 small chidrens chairs covered in demin.
The PLC chairs designed by PearsonLloyd in 2010 were donated to the Hospice and are used in the ‘@home’ installation. ‘Star Gazing’ made with vintage jewellery and free machine embroidery.
PearsonLloyd is a London based design studio founded by Tom Lloyd and Luke Pearson in 1997. The PLC chair is made for Modus and retails new for around £300 each. It is a style icon of today and for the future.
